Advanced Stem Cell Therapy (SCT)
Stem cell therapy (SCT) is our most advanced offering. It does not only trigger the healing process and accelerate it as with the intermediate PRP, but it also provides a very large number of stem cells, the key components to tissue generation. It is thus the most potent option but also the most costly. Furthermore, it is more invasive, yet still very safe. If focuses squarely on the cause of your pet’s problem, bringing the most resources to bear.
Stem cells can be harvested from a number of sources:
- They can be aspired from your pet’s bone marrow, typically in the hip area. They are then concentrated into a Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC).
- They can also be taken from your pet’s adipose (fat) tissue. This is also done through aspiration (a mini liposuction) and is a little more invasive, although not quite as much as surgery.
- Very recently, the FDA has been considering approval of stem cells that are grown from your pet’s own or even from outside sources. This promises the availability of a much larger amount of stem cells, potentially orders of magnitude. The more stem cells, the more material available to regrow tissue and speed up healing. We will offer this service as soon as it is formally approved by the FDA.
Whether from your pet’s own bone marrow, from adipose or maybe soon through culture, PetStem can prepare a potent stem cell solution that is then injected in your pet’s problematic area. For hard to reach places or wide-reaching conditions, it can even be injected intravenously, and is thought to still reach the troubled area. This solution is highly concentrated: it contains a very large number of stem cells that can immediately go to work where they are needed, triggering the healing process without delay.
